oh right, didn't recognize that you wrote IOT2050 Basic. 

I heard that one time, that the IOT did behave like this after a firmware update. Don't know what this customer did in the end, there was no response any more (see here).

It seems as the firmware is really bricked and the device is useless like this. Do you have a Dediprog programmer by any chance? This is a hardware developing device, but mabye you are working in such an environment. 
This would be the only way to revocer device. 

If you don't have a Dediprog, I fear the only way is to exchange the IOT2050 via your local Siemens repair center. Do you have a local Siemens contact person?

that's a pitty.. So the official way is not possible, I did not know that. I contacted the product management, maybe there is another way to help you, but I can't promise anything.

In the meantime I found out what happened: The -f flag writes the input as it is (unmanaged, raw) to the flash -> There is a .tar.xz file in the flash now, which is not extracted.
