Errors made during the installation of the FW 1.2.1

Unfortunately I made two mistakes (due to the usual rush) during the installation phase of FW 1.2.1. The first mistake was to run (after installing Example Image v.1.1.1) apt update and run apt upgrade. The second was when running the command: "iot2050-firmware-update IOT2050-PG1-FW-Update-PKG-V01.02.01.tar.xz" and being rejected as an invalid command I forced it by running: "iot2050-firmware-update -f IOT2050-PG1-FW-Update-PKG-V01.02.01.tar.xz ". At this point the command was accepted, I confirmed with Y and then I rebooted. Starting the device now no longer performs the BOOT, the STAT led remains steady green and connecting the UART cable on putty I get a blank screen without any message. Is it possible to go back to a previous recovery situation?

I don't have the eMMc my device is an IOT2050 Basic FS: 01. On the SD card was Example Image v.1.1.1. I tried to reinstall the Example Image v.1.0.2 but nothing has changed.

I heard that one time, that the IOT did behave like this after a firmware update. Don't know what this customer did in the end, there was no response any more (see here). It seems as the firmware is really bricked and the device is useless like this. Do you have a Dediprog programmer by any chance? This is a hardware developing device, but mabye you are working in such an environment. This would be the only way to revocer device. If you don't have a Dediprog, I fear the only way is to exchange the IOT2050 via your local Siemens repair center. Do you have a local Siemens contact person? Best regards!

I contacted the Siemens representative in my area, but he told me that they do not do repairs on these devices. So at this point I will have to buy a new one.

I contacted the product management, maybe there is another way to help you, but I can't promise anything. In the meantime I found out what happened: The -f flag writes the input as it is (unmanaged, raw) to the flash -> There is a .tar.xz file in the flash now, which is not extracted. Best regards!
