ET 200S IM151-8 Connection

CSanders Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, I had experience with s7-300 and 200 CPUs in the past and an IM 151-8 CPU is quite new to me. I have downloaded the related pdf for startup but im unable to establish connection to the PLC. The Devices: 24V PS: 6EP1 233-1AA00 CPU: IM151-8, 6ES7 151-8AB01-0AB0 PM-E: 6ES7 138-4CA01-0AA0 8DI: 6ES7 131-4BF00-0AA0 8DO: 6ES7 132-4BF00-0AA0 Current Led Status: CPU: ON=Green STOP=Yellow others are not lid. PM-E: SF=Red PWR=Green Things I had done: I considered this to be like a s7-300 CPU and opened a s7-300 station in HW config. I've loaded the IM151. It prompted an IP adress. I've acknowledged the default adress in the textbox (192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0). And I saw this pharagraph on the manual for connection: -------- To download the configuration, select the MAC address of the target IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU interface module. You can display the list of available nodes in the "Select node address" window "whilst downloading the HW configuration. Here you can select the desired target device via the associated IP or MAC address. If the device has only had a MAC address so far, then this can now be assigned the configured IP address. The programming device must be connected to the IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU interface module in order to do this. The programming device interface must be set to TCP/IP (Auto). In the IE-PG Access tab of the interface properties you must set: Assign Project- Specific IP Address. -------- Well to be frank, I didn't understand a lot :). How am I supposed to select the MAC adress (from which tab?) And what is the select node addresess window? The memory card is inserted and I need to connect to the device with my laptop for the first time. What should I do to do that? Would really appriciate if someone helps me to get the headstart Hello CSanders, To set the IP Address to CPU or any other Profinet Device follow the following Procedure 1. In Step 7 Menu PLC -> Edit Ethernet Node 2. Click ON Browse 3. Selecte the Which Node you want to Assign the IP address Based on MAC address. for Each Device you will find the MAC Address on Device 4. Define the IP address & Subnet Mask 5. Click on Assign IP Configuration, In above step You can also Define the Device Name for Ref. You IP address setting is Done for the Device when you follow the Step again you will find the IP address in the Node list When you Define the IP address then You Laptop & PLC IP address must be in Same Range Now all set to go for the Communication.

CSanders Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thx a lot for replying, but im probably doing a basic mistake. I've connected my laptop to the p1 port of the CPU and my IP seting in the laptop is automatic. When I click on the "browse" you had mentioned, a message pops up, saying: "A network problem has occurred. Please check the networking adapter you selected as the online interface and repeat the action". Then I input the MAC manually in the text box. After that I entered the IP and Subnet mask values i wanted (192.168.72.1, 255.255.255.0). "Assign IP Configuration" is not clickable (faded) until I select "obtain IP address from a DHCP server". Even when I do it the same message pops up. Its probably a basic mistake. Do these give any clue?

Hello CSanders, It look like you have already assigned the IP Address or some one have done already, assign the IP address in the Range of 192.168.72.XXX in your laptop. & then try to do the Communication, as I mention in my previous Post.

CSanders Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi, It turned out to be a very simple problem. I was using standart ethernet cable (pin1 to pin1 .. 8-8 connection) The P1 port led was flashing on the cpu and the leds around my ethernet card on my laptop was on so I assumed that the cable was OK. Then I tried another cable of the same kind and found out that the other cable was broken. With the new cable the port (P1) led on the CPU is stable now and I can connect. Thx a lot for the suggestions btw.
