ET 200SP - IM155-6 PN HF Port diagnostic

Hi all,

I have several ET 200SP I/O racks connected in ring topology (using RJ 45 bus adapters), and need to perform diagnostic on PN ports. I just need to know if a port is connected or not, for alarm and HMI visualization. Any advise?

Hi,

if you want only know if connected / Link (green LED) you could use instruction LED.

Or you can use DeviceStates to check if IO devices exists.

you find the instruction  "LED" at Extended instructions > Diagnostics > LED

Antother possibility to get state of Ports etc is SNMP.

the ET200SP IM HF  supports the following PROFINET IO functions:

●Supported Ethernet services: ping, arp, network diagnostics (SNMP)/MIB-2, LLDP-MIB

and MRP-MIB

●Port diagnostics

Apparently, and thanks to Italian Siemens technical support, I managed to get the desired results:

1. Configure each PROFINET node as not node in the ring in the Media Redundancy tab: this will transparently enable System Redundancy (higher performances than MRP);
   
2. In the PN-IO controller configuration, at the PROFINET tab, check the OB82 / fault task - call at communications interrupt box:
   

   This check box works like an interrupt filter: When it is disabled (default), although certain events such as loss of synchronization cause a diagnostic buffer entry, they do not lead to a diagnostic interrupt OB call (OB82) or to a FaultTask.
   These events represent information from the PROFINET interface (interface or ports), for example for maintenance information that makes preventive maintenance necessary (maintenance requirement or maintenance request).
   If you want these events to cause an OB82 call or a FaultTask, enable the check box.
   

3. Now, every time you disconnect (or reconnect) a link in the I/O open ring, the OB82 will be executed, and the PROFINET port(s) address will be available at the #OB82_MDL_ADDR parameter.

Of course, except for step 1., everything remains valid in case your topology is not open ring.
