Sachin Kulkarni Posts: 9 Rating: (1)	If I am not wrong, an R-system is a software based redundancy system. You have 2 nos. CPU315 on a common MPI bus, & there are function blocks used for syncronising Process image, Flags& DBs at the end of every scan cycle. With an IM153 redundancy bundle, you can only have redundancy at IM level i.e., if the active IM fails, the entire profibus switches to the standby IM, & even there is a changeover of the Master / standby CPU. If you need to have a non-redundant IM, for instance on CPU A, you configure the same only in hardware config of CPU A, & also practically connect this IM on Profibus of CPU A. Be sure that you configure a unique DP address for this IM, & the same should be out of range of parameter assigement as part of your syncronising FB called in OB1. If you are looking out for redundancy at IO level, i.e., if one IO module fails, another takes over, the same will not be possible with an 'R' (software based redundant) system, & you will have to go for an 'H' system only.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, in case of the Software redundancy I fear, if I follow the Documentation,only the use of redundant IO is allowed, but as I see that you have single systems used you should be able to use also single sided IO Slaves too. The only thing you have to be sure about is that you can not see the IO data on the System the Slave is not connected to. Best regards J_Bell
