ET200s - cannot assign device name

kilda Regular Member Joined: 11/12/2013 Last visit: 1/15/2025 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello boys, I have got this problem, when I try to assign the name to the ET200s device (TIA portal V13), TIA writes that the assigning cannot be performed in current module mode (see attached). The CPU is physically in STOP mode and with the assigning od IP address there wasn't any problem. However, this is my first ET200s CPU, but with the configurating of S7 1200 device I have never had any problem too. Thank you.. Attachment assigning_name_error.jpg (644 Downloads)

I thought that assigning the IP and then device name is the only way how to do that. Please correct me if I am wrong. I am using this CPU - IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU, connected to my PC via ethernet cable. I have already resetted the MMC throught the hardware switch. I have tried to write device name directly to MMC, but I still have deactivated option Write IO-device name in project menu (you can see in attachement). thanks Attachment screen.jpg (394 Downloads)

Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 3/21/2025 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	for the controller it is not necessary to assign the device name before loading the configuration. the normal et 200s and all pnio devices need to get the pnio name, before they can get their configuration from the pnio controller.

I have just PLC, power module and 8DI module in my HW configuration and 512kB MMC, it should be the same config. as in my project. The SF led in my power module lights red and plc is now in stop mode. When I start the PLC, the SF led starts to light red too. In diagnostics I have no specific information about an error. Diniz_ Bronze Member Joined: 7/2/2016 Last visit: 6/18/2024 Posts: 120 Rating: (29)	for me what solve was a factory reset (by PST or Edit Ethernet node) before assign name. it to a ET200S CPU however to a cpu 314C with a running program i had remove the mmc, change the name at HW config, then reset the CPU and assign by PST and finally download again the HW config to match.
