Hello dstudio Safety I/O modules differ from standard ones, mainly because the need to ensure that the output is in ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ state, for that they have an applied electronic that automatically tests the I/O circuits, to detect thing like wire-break or short-circuits and others.
