Ethernet communication between multiple 315-2 PN/DP

acciae Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I am having a problem with the ethernet communication between multiple 315-2 PN/DP being unstable. Communication is made and then breaksdown again. Once the communications has broken down it cannot be recoved again only if the CPU is stopped and started again. Anyone have the same problem before? Any solutions?

In this OB, the first communication trigger is enabled with marker 0.3 "START-UP".This bit after that start let's say "communication". acciae Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	the communication run without problems.when i remove the Ethernet cable and plug it in again the connection reconnects and communication carries on as normal.though after x amount of time (days) the cpu's will stop communicating (it seems the ones that are far away from the switch) are affected. when i try to reconnectthe connection error code state that the connection has been established already, if i try to disconnect the error code state that i'm trying to disconnect a connection that is nonexistent. I'm leaning toward the problem being the cable from CPU to switch not being industrial cable but commercial Ethernet cable....???

INS Gold Member Joined: 4/6/2006 Last visit: 1/21/2019 Posts: 604 Rating: (56)	Hi, If you are using a cable length of approx. 200 meter you use double the length used in the specification for Ethernet which 100 meter. So the 200 meter seems a bit long for me, are you sure about this? This would not be solved when using a cable designed to be used in harsh environments. If it's more then 100 meter you should add an active component somewhere to solve this, this could be a simple switch like the Scalance XB005 for example. An other way to solve this is to use Fiber optic combined with 2 MediaConverters (Scalance X101-1) and Multimode Fiber Optic, this would give you the possibility to overcome distances up to 3 km.
