ethernet communication with a Sony probe

I need to connect to a Sony Probe which measures the part thickness. Tested the Sony MG31 using terminal emulator. Using the ethernet or open communications commands such as TCON etc., is this possible to connect? The following is from using emulator. There are many commnads but towards the bottom of the list is the "R" command which reads the value of axis which only one probe is used. The PLC is a 1214C with a Siemens TP1200 using a CSM 1277 unmanaged. The probe or MG41 is connect to the CSM1277. In the Hardware configuration is there a way to configure this as a partner?I'm a little lost at point any help would appreciated. Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello, i do not know, what the parameters says. But if the probe support TCP/IP or UDP/IP, you can use the open communication blocks (TCON etc). If the Probe supports Modbus, you can use it as well with other communication blocks.

The 00A is the axis number the MG41 can have four probes connected. I'm using the TCON it asked for the partner in the General settings. I'm guessing that you have to have somethign setup in the hardware confige. So I guess my real question is how do I get this setup in the hardware confige?

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello, if the probe supports TCP/UDP-IP, you can use TCON. Do you use the TSEND_C blocks? Then configure a unspecified partner and enter the IP and port of the probe. TCON is not needed. If you use TCON, you also need TSEND/TRCV and TDISCON.
