Ethernet <-> MPI ower ewon

bosandzeros Bronze Member Joined: 7/1/2013 Last visit: 1/22/2025 Posts: 85 Rating: (4)	I am trying to establish communication between ET200S IM151-8 CPU (profinet interface) and CPU 312 (mpi interface). There is eWon as gateway (or protocol converter). In attached picture "HMI_Routed" you can see connection between PLC_2 and PC_System_1 which is working. That connection is created atutomattically by TIA portal when I add tag from PLC_2 to PC_System_1 tag table. I am unable to make this connection manually. On attached picture "PLC_to_PLC_error" faulty connection between PLC_4 and PLC_2 can be seen, which prevents hardware configuration compilation. Is this possible to be done in TIA, how can I create ruouted connection manually ? Best Regards Attachment ROUTING.zip (155 Downloads)

bosandzeros Bronze Member Joined: 7/1/2013 Last visit: 1/22/2025 Posts: 85 Rating: (4)	As I say, it is possible to access PLC_2 from PC_System_1 over eWon, since PC_System_1 has only ethernet port it means that eWon works ok. But problem is to configure connection betwen two plc's in TIA portal, as you can see I get errors and I can't compile hardware configuration.

That IP must be inserted to that PLC with Ethernet as gateway connection probably. Update: from doc: 1.3.4 Ethernet to Serial Gateways • MODBUS TCP to MODBUS RTU • XIP to UNITELWAY • EtherNet/IP™ to DF1 • FINS TCP to FINS Hostlink • ISOTCP to PPI (optionnaly MPI) • VCOM / ASCII

Look at documentation, you can program that CPU via eWon but if it support your needed S7 communication is question. Update: did you try make S7 communication between that 2 S7-3XX CPUs?

As you can see on attached image it says that plc_2 has 6 s7 connection resources, and 0 used. But when I add new connection in interface field it pops up error: There are no connection resources available. ... Same thing happens if I connect two new plc's this way, by connecting them in hw configuration with "S7 connection" active. It is possible that I make basic errors in creating connection, maybe I am doing something wrong. Attachment S7 Connections.png (150 Downloads)
