Ethernet SOFTNET-S7 Lean Edition 2006.... license

JSMTek Posts: 50 Rating: (2)	Hello! I hope this is the right place for this question. I'm a complete newbie :) I'm using Simatic PCS7 with WinCC and a 400 series CPU for my student project. Ive created a multiproject with AS and OS projects. When i'm testing my program i sometimes get a warning message saying i do'nt have the license for: Simatic NET Ind. Ethernet SOFTNET-S7 Lean Edition 2006.. (attached screenshot) What is Simatic NET Ind. Ethernet SOFTNET-S7 Lean Edition, or what do I usually need this for? I was told i had all the necessary licenses for my project.. So i think i've maby done some configuration, or been using some unnecessary features for my project? Each driver corresponds to one network (profibus, ethernet, etc),one protocol (S7, FMS, etc), and module (CP5613, CP1613, general Ethernet adapter, etc). Siemens sell these drivers. SOFTNET-S7 Lean Edition 2006 = Ethernet, protocoll S7, Ethernet adapter, up to 8 connections. Some products / versions (like WinCC), comes with this license. Take a Look at his Automation License Manager, and at the autorisations disk/pen drivers.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I just wonder myself, do you have the requested License installed? I think with PCS7 V 7 SOFTNET S7 Lean is the standard Interface and it replaced BDE, but I am not sure. Best regards J_Bell

JSMTek Posts: 50 Rating: (2)	I went through all my licenses, and also doublechecked my license disks/mem.stics that all of them were installed. And none of them contained the this particular license. I also noticed that this warning-message pops up only on rare occasions under WinCC runtime. But it does'nt seem to affect my program.. Everything works as expected. This message did never pop up when i was running my OS offline. Only after i connected the CPU to the ES/OS.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, the license for SOFTNET is only necessary if you run the Online-Function. Then the license is checked, if you have no Connection than there is no need for it. You are right the System has to run also without the license but you will see the message more and more often as long as the system runs. If you switch the system off every 8 hours and then you rebootyou will see the message only once each time you run the system. Best regards J_Bell

JSMTek Posts: 50 Rating: (2)	Okay. I see. This may be a silly question :) But.. I've been reading in the Help documents, and i noticed that in NetPro under my OS project. When i Select the WinCC application item i see that my AS/OS connection is of the "S7 connection" type. If i understood what i've read correctly, i could (and should) use the ISO connection type.. Is this maby the cause of my problem? (I followed the Getting Started tutorial installed with PCS7 when i configured my projects, thats why i use the S7 Connection type)
