normally you need no Scalance switch :D

the Simotion hav a 3 port Switch onboard (X150) and each CU320-2 PN have a 2Port Switch (X150)

So you can make a line topology between D455 and CU320-2 without a Scalance.

Hi,

every additional PROFINET IRT component increase the Bus timing, so if you add 5 Scalance Switches you will get a higher IRT cyclus as if you use no Scalance.

a switch is not designed to speed up bus cycle times!

You can check if you can reduce the external sinamics drives/axises and use more internal on D455 (here up to 36 drive Axis can be controlled without any external CU).

define benefits, i think you have not really think about a switch and what you can do with it.

a switch is used to expand a network (more network connection, larger network length between the devices , more structured network topology...)

and yes i  mean that is better to use a cx32-2 insteed of CU320-2 PN (lower cost ;) )
