Existence of x64 drivers for the MPI/USB PC Adapte V1.3

Arntsen Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi all, new on the forums so if this is in the wrong forum or anything feel free to move it or tell me so I wont do the same misstake twice. Ok here it goes. I'm a student on a automation line trying to connect a S7-300 trough the mpi/usb pc adapter. The thing is when we got the program and installed in on our own computers i couldnt find any driver that supports 64 bit operating systems. Now this isn't that critical to get because we have other computers running 32bit os, but it would be nice to use step7 on my own computer On a side note, windows is not making 32 bits operating systems anymore, windows 7 was the last so unless siemens want their customers to continue using old operating systems they have to make 64 bit drivers( if such a thing doesnt exist already) Thanks for bearing with me and im sorry for any spelling mistakes. Arntsen Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Thats what I'm doing now, Running Win XP in VMware. The problem is vmware cant transfer the mpi adapter properly because its missing the driver. In vmware it shows up as properly installed but on my win7 its an unrecognized device hence it stops in my host operating system and wont pass through to the plc. I sorta got it to work on ethernet but i still need the mpi to change hardware settings to enable the ethernet card.

marco5 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Yes it's working fine under VMware or VirtualBox. I have the same problem. New Notebook with Windows Vista 64bit and Windows XP in VirtualBox. To communicate outside the VM i need to install the driver onto the host system. Otherwise i cant throughpass the adapter to the VM. Is there any new getting a driver for Windows Vista 64bit?

tomearp Posts: 51 Rating: (3)	are you sure you need a 64-bit driver? i have no problems using the USB adapter with an XP VM. either plug the USB adapter in when you're full-screened on the VM or to make sure go to the VM menu > Removable devices and select the "Connect (disconnect from host)" option for the USB adapter. the whole point of that feature is that no host drivers are needed because the device is effectively directly connected to the VM
