Hello Eau; What exactly do you need to do with this data from the S5 PLC? The comm port of the S5-100U uses a protocol known as AS511, and is TTY-based; so you would need a cable with a TTY-t-o-serial converter to connect to the PC, whichever technique you choose to connect. Siemens proposes a 6ES7 734-1BD00 cable. If all you want is the data, there are OPC interfaces from Softing, Kepware and others that allow you to read data from the S5-100U on its programming port. But I am not sure if you can share them port with an OP-7PP panel at the same time. If you need to do modifications on the program as well as collect the data, you would need Step 5 software from Siemens, or as an alternative S5 for Windows, from IBH Softec (IBH also offers a cable to connect to the S5 PLC, a USB-S5 Adapter that includes the electronics for conversion to AS511; so does www.process-informatik.de). Again, I do not believe that parallel connections to the OP panel at the same time as the programming software would be possible. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Eau; Data exchanges between a Simatic panel (such as your OP 7/PP) and a S5 CPU are all programmed in standard blocks and one specific FB. This was programmed in a software named Coros, accessing specific FBs in the PLC program.. All the data that appears on the screen of the OP 7/PP is located in FB51 of the PLC program, if the connection uses the AS511 port of the S7-100U.. So I presume that if you can access FB51 from the OPC software you will transfer every value that you see in the panel on the PC that has the OPC client. You can then use it as you need. Have a look at this manual for the S5 PLCs, with a Simatic panel, and examine the attached tables. Communication user’s manual https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1137086 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
