F-DQ module - disable dark test

Dear All

During a startup we encountered at some problems with the design pneumatic design of the machine.

Since we use safety outputs of F-DQ at ET200SP (6ES7 136-6DB00-0CA0) for ordinary pneumatic valves, the dark test pulses switch valves off and on again. And this is a problem.

Is it possible to completely turn off the pulses? I cannot find any parameters ...
Shortening the pulse time to 0.6 ms (which is the minimum) is not sufficient.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

where can I disable the dark test?

There is no setting under Simatic Step 7 (there should be, however, a 48h disable in TIA according to the manuals ... )

I can only disable light tests (which are not enabled by default) and all the tests on F-DI cards.

 Yes, the search is ama-zing! :)

But ... this can only be set in TIA, as I've written in my previous post. In Step 7 v5.5 there is no such parameter ....

It seems to me that nothing can be done in S7. Thanks anyway!

Actually, both in TIA Portal and in Simatic manager you need an additional Safety package to parametrize any Siemens F-IO module, including the ET 200SP F-DQ:

This is from the original Delivery Release information for the ET-200SP F-IO modules:

"Support for Configuration

The new failsafe ET 200SP modules can be configured via the TIA Portal as from Safety Advanced V12 (entry ID:79206291), or with Distributed Safety V5.4 SP5 together with the S7 F-ConfigurationPack V5.5 SP11* and higher.

* The delivery release of S7 F-ConfigurationPack V5.5 SP11 is planned for early November 2013."

Also, from the information presented in this FAQ, you would need at least F-Confidguration Tool version 5.5 SP11 (part of Distributed Sfety package for Simatic Manager) in order to ntegrate your ET 200SP F-DQ modules:

 I have the latest Distributed safety and F-CP, and I can configure the module. However, there is no option in Step7 to disable dark test for 48h (or forever) ...

This is very intriguing.

In my experience, when Siemens declares that certain software configurations can be used to parametrize specific modules they give you access to all parameters for that module, whatever software combination you choose..

So by their own declaration, Distributed Safety 5,4 + SP5, along with F-CP v5.5 +SP11 should give you the possibility of activating the same parameters for the ET 200SP F-DQ as the TIA Portal Safety Advanced.

I have found no further document contradicting this standard way of doing things, in the documentation available here.

If there is no resolution on your side, and you are certain of your configuration, the question should be resolved by Siemens technicians and programmers. You can reach them through the Support Request link at the top of this page: take the time to explain you problem with all details, including part numbers and software versions in your project, in the introductory text box they show..

It would be interesting to see what their reply is, if you don't mind posting it here in the forum.

I received a reply from Siemens:

Siemens

 This parameter is available in V5.5 SP11 of the F-Configuration Pack.

The ET200SP does not support this parameter, see:

Therefore in V5.5 SP12 it is not available any more, as well as it is not available in TIA portal.

After all you need to use a relay in case 0ms dark test time is required.

So, there *was* an option in the old F-CP - but is not supported anymore by the newest F-DQ/ET200SP firmware.
