Failed to start simulation WinCC Prof

ATMega128 Experienced Member Joined: 3/13/2007 Last visit: 6/17/2022 Posts: 50 Rating: (4)	Hi all, I accidentally started a HMI rebuild all while the simulation was still shutting down! Result : the system hangs ! I rebooted, rebuild all( with right click in short cut menu) both HMI and PLC . Sincethat event i got the error message "failed to start simulation". Then i tried to simulate another project : no problem ! What can i do to fix this problem ?? Kind Regards Johan

Then i archived the project as you told en retrieved it in another folder ! What i did extra was removing the IM folder before i achived the project ! When i started the simulation again (project in the new folder), one can see that a new IM folder is made ! That solved the problem !! Many thanks !! Kind Regards Johan

Software : WinCC TIA V13 SP1 update 9

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 12/8/2023 Posts: 11813 Rating: (1518)	Hello if it only do not work with a specific project then the cause could be a Database connection that blocks the starting of the same project. You can try to use the Reset_WinCC.vbs sript in the Bin Installtation Folder of WinCC. After the reset is done then do a restart of the Computer and try again. Bye Murof

My project can run on customer computer (V15.1 Upd3 also) , but no more on my working station. It is also says : "Failed to Start Simulation Runtime" I have contacted Siemens support who told me to execute different actions including deletion of IM directory, but none of them was working ! To be sure, I created then a new test project with only one view : I encounter the same problem. But something new from TIA 15.1 Update 3 installation, since it has worked before. I didn't have problems during V15.1 installation.
