fault-30022 and 30002 in sinamics s-120 drive - repair localy?

fault-30022 and 30002 in sinamics s-120 drive , some kind of heatup or burning smell is there inside the power module, is it possible that we can repaire it locally or we have to send to siemens for the repairing.

Expert opinion will be highly appreciated.

Split from fault-30022 in sinamics s-120 drive .

If it still under warranty, send it back for warranty repair.

If it is well out of warranty, and purchasing a new one is long lead time and high cost, certainly it is possible to repair.

There are 5 kinds of repairs for S120 drives (personal opinion follows):

1. Warranty
2. Out of warranty, something failed, and you can see exactly the point of failure. Example: DC bus capacitors failed without damaging anything else.  Find suitable replacements, and replace using appropriate techniques (torque setting bolts for larger C's, and proper soldering of smaller C's, as an example).
3. Out of warranty, something failed, and you cannot see the exact point of failure. Send to Siemens for repair according to your timing and budget.  They can often have a replacement to you in a 24 hrs (at least pre-COVID).
4. Out of warranty, and all manner of parts blew, causing a fire, or explosion, or something really bad happened.  Get Siemens on-site for evaluation.
5. Get Siemens service rep on-site to assess damage, get replacement parts, install, and recommission drive.  This costs the most, but for larger drives, this is the least overall expensive way.

Drive is out of warranty, please refer the attached image of short circuit in the drive.

Hopefully we will repaire it locally .

What option worked for you?  That drive was too large to return to Siemens for an exchange repair.  Only commonly used (and short lead time) drives are part of that program. 

Do you have any other similar sized drives not currently in use that you can salvage parts from?  If you do, contact Siemens and they may offer guidance on what parts are direct swaps as relates to the failed component(s) shown in the original image.

WHILE THIS drive stopping time F30002 alarm is coming

Is it new drive under commissioning?

F30002 - Power unit DC link voltage overvoltage.

During stopping, motor regenerating energy causes rise in DC link voltage as such this alarm trigers. Please check & if possible icrease ramp down time i.e. p1121.

If this does not help then check if braking resistor is installed & parameters are correctly set.
