I have a similar problem, but i use TIA Portal.

I need to set a MRP Loop using:

- 2 Switches X212-2 (with 8 S7 1214 connected, each)

- 2 Switches X216 (with 8 S7 1214 connected, each. One X216 has a S7 1515 connected to it)

- 2 Switches X204-F (with 2 S7 1214 connected, each)

One X216 is MASTER and All others are CLIENT.

Ports are defined as "Any Partner", except the links for the loop which are:

- Port 11 = Loop IN  /  Port 12 = Loop OUT.

The PLC S7 1515 is refered to for the MRP Loop.

==> Problem, i have faults on the X216 Switches.The Error description is not clear "Error in Lower Level"

Here attached are some print screens of my configurations.

It is strange that the configuration of Switches X216 and X212-2 are not the same for the definition of the Ports related to the Loop. It is clearly displayed in X212 whereas it is not in X216 (greyed).

Please, do not hesitate to give any idea about it.

that is strange. I just tried to configure it with TIA V15 Update 3 and X216 V5.2 and I could choose ring ports without being "grey".

So...what FW, TIA you use?
Did you connect all SCALANCE to one subnet?

Do you try to configure topology? I know, it is not necessary for mrp, but perhaps then your ports are correct. Just a try...

Can you post a screenshot of your network-View?
