Fani.Ing Posts: 77 Rating: (3)	Hello Experts, I hope some one can give valuable direction to solve the problem in the attached picture. I configured a profinet node with 24 bytes in and 23 bytes out. Would like to read and write the data by using FC11 and FC12. The status of both functions contains a code 8183. When I checked the possible reasons from the help file regarding 8183 I cann't see if any of them is the case here. In the device view node is up and running without any error.I have tried both modes(0 & 1) but problem remains same. Can any one suggest me what I can do here next????? Wizard Diamond Member Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 3/21/2025 Posts: 8904 Rating: (1187)	Hello Fani.lng, Please have a look at the followinglink: how do you program communication blocks FC11 and FC12 for the PROFINET IO controller? The problem is caused by the amount of bytes you want to read and write. See the addresses of IO device, when you use addresses 260 etc. (You should at least communicate more then 260 bytes, even when you do not use the first bytes) Try to change the addresses to a lower address, so you can communicate less bytes Best regards, Wizard

Fani.Ing Posts: 77 Rating: (3)	Hello Wizard, Thanks for the suggestion. I lower down the address to 20 but problem remains same. In the example I can see they are reading from 256 onward and only 21 bytes but in my case if I will read from 256 or 260 or 20 there is no change and mostlikley all the addressing in the program is correct. It is about the Input/Outputaddresses of the IO devices. (When you have there an address like 100, you need to communicate at least 100 bytes) Best regards, Wizard

Fani.Ing Posts: 77 Rating: (3)	Hello Wizard, Thanks for the reply. I don't think I should read 283 bytes since LEN parameter in the siemens example is very clear. But I have tried to read 283 bytes no change in the status code still 8183, NDR =0, ERROR=1 Any new suggestion?

(They should also be 283 byte) And the used Datablock must be long enough!! And the parameter IOPS and IOCS should be the right size (1 bit for every byte) Best regards, Wizard
