Filtering WinCC Alarm 'Window'

In this case, I'd like to be able to push a button, and only show alarms from a specific area of plant (hard-codedinto the button).

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Yes this is possible. Just enable the Toolbar of the control in runtime. Then in runtime click on the filter button. Now you can set the filter as desired. Press ok. You are thinking "I want a mouse button press action", we will come to that soon... After you applied the filter in runtime, open the filtersettings again. At the bottum of the opened pop-up window you can see the sql query that is used to apply the filter. Copy that sql query (now you don't have to think how you should configure this). If you open the Alarms control in graphic runtime you will see at the properties side of the control that you have the ability to dynamically set the filter. The property of the control is: "MsgFilterSQL". Now with the use of a new created button you can assign your copied SQL query to the "MsgFilterSQL" property of the alarm control (in runtime). First, I'm having trouble passing thequery I want to the Alarm Control. I need to assemble the query using script, as the query needs to be context-driven. Second, the query is not having the desired effect on the alarm list. Third, when I attempt to 'view' the query via the Alarm Control I get the following message: "The selection was changed in such a manner that it can no longer be displayed in the Selection dialog. To open the dialog, the current selection must be discarded".

First, You can not pass every query into the alarm control. for instance: You can not use "OR" in your query's (you should alter it in a way that you use LIKE. If you set a query to the control that he does not know OR the query is to complex (but still could work) you will get the message: "The selection was changed in such a manner that it can no longer be displayed in the Selection dialog. To open the dialog, the current selection must be discarded". I have found and fixed my original error (spelling mistake on my part - sorry). I am using the following C script to assemble the query I need: - ctag1 = (GetTagChar("Name")); sprintf (qry1, "TEXT1 LIKE '%s' ", ctag1; SetTagChar ("SQL_Query", qry1)); For some reason, the sprintf command is always returning a null value. (The space between the single and double quotes is not actually there) If I replace the sprintf line with a fixed string assignment, it works. I'm not a good C programmer, but I have a little more experience with it than I do with VB.

You posted this one: ctag1 = (GetTagChar("Name")); sprintf (qry1, "TEXT1 LIKE '%s' ", ctag1; SetTagChar ("SQL_Query", qry1)); But take a look at the ")" the rewritten version: ctag1 = (GetTagChar("Name")); sprintf (qry1, "TEXT1 LIKE '%s' ", ctag1); SetTagChar ("SQL_Query", qry1); I presume you have connected the tag "SQL_Query" to the property of the control. (You can also assign the property directly, but this is not needed explicit). with regards

The 'extra' bracket was a typo. sorry. The tag containing the finisted query is used as a direct connection to the SQL query control attribute of the alarm window.

That's your mistake, You are placing the pointer into a container instead of the value. Define the ctag1 and qty1 as follow: char ctag1[255]; char qty1[255]; and the script shoud then look like: strcpy(ctag1, GetTagChar("Name")); sprintf (qry1, "TEXT1 LIKE '%s' ", ctag1); SetTagChar ("SQL_Query", qry1); At least be sure to reserve enough space between the brackets [ ] for the complete query to fit in !!! Count the maximum of characters needed! I use in some projects even [750] to be complaint. Let me know if it works.

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, When you change the first line of code into the following: strcpy(ctag1, GetTagChar("Name")); You can declare the ctag1 as an array as well. Just try. But you can keep it like you have right now if it suits your needs. with regards,
