G120, couple of questions, BOP and memory card necessity.

Hello everyone!

I am ordering such Sinamics G120  things like PM240 and CUE240 right now. So there are couple of questions arisen.

• Is there any necessity to purchase memory card for the control unit. I am not going to do with G120 complicated things, just only Start/Stop, Speed/Torque control using Digital and Analogue Inputs.That's all.
• Whether there is a need to purchase BOP (basic operator panel) if I am going to do one-time setup via Starter software.

 Hello, 

Sinamics G120 Memory Card is used to store parameters. You can use it to store up to 100 set of parameters. 

For your case, it is not essential to purchase it.

BOP is used to enter parameters and monitor drive status as well. You can see drive speed for instance or see fault number if there is a fault happen in your drive. But if you will use starter software, and if you don't need to monitor actual speed or fault number if occurred,  then you don't have to purchase the BOP.

• Should I choose exactly 2,2 KWt  of G120 (PM240 capacity) or it will be better to take a little more capacity? True, next "size" which can be ordered is 3.0 KWt.

Although judging by el. diagrams,  most of automation developers do following: for 100% motor capacity is chosen exactly the same inverter capacity.

That never caused any issues? Everything always fits?

• OUTPUT HIGH OVERLOAD: 2,2KW FOR 200% 3S,150% 57S,100% 240S what does mean?

please any clarifications.

it means the dirver can be allowed 200% overload for 3s....

If I'm not mistaken, there are two ratings.  LO (low output) is for variable torque (pump, fan) loads.  HO (high output) is for constant torque loads.  HO is typically one module larger than LO.  The difference is how much overload current can be provided for a certain period of time.

So, for your application, select LO or HO as appropriate.

I wonder the more you leran the more doubts you have.

Now how to find out whether working motor load is close to its max capacity or not.

Or better to rely on data from el.diagram.

You are overthinking this.  It's a 2.2KW drive and motor like any other 2.2 kw motor and drive.  Whatever man-hours you have spent thinking about this negates any cost difference between these low power drives.

You are correct on all counts!

There is a rule among automation developers.

Sounds like: motor capacity + 15% (if possible) or next size in catalogue.

Just bought next size that means 3.0 KWt, price difference is not so much for us, it's equal $150 and nobody has headache now.
