sandeep reddy Posts: 92 Rating: (7)	dear sir, i have an application where 4 axis are used on a gantry. please help me out how can this be comissioned. 1. how many slaves can be connected to a single master axis. if any document plz provide. 2. if 3 slaves + 1 master can be done, plz give me the procedure. in doconcd it is said that only 2 slaves + 1 master possible, is this a limitation. with regards, sandeep

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	I think that limitation is correct, that a gantry can have no more than 2 slaves. You can set up a master/slave coupling on each side of a gantry and use a gantry coupling between the master axis on each side. I don't know if there is a limit on the number of slaves per master. Their example shows 4 slaves on a master, so at least that many are possible. Gantry axes are assumed to be not very rigidly coupled. Each side has a position loop and the skew between sides is monitored and controlled. A master/slave coupling is assumed to be rigid, with the extra motors used for more torque and/or providing tension to reduce backlash. HTH, SteveA

I have two motors and I would like to have one as a master and the other as a slave and implelent speed control on both motors. Could you please provide some infos? Thanks! Edit: I just saw that this thread is in CNC. Is it possible though to implement such a control scheme on two motors with an S120? Thank you
