SonicRanger Posts: 151 Rating: (8)	Hi akter, In our powerplant we have both a gas chromatograph and a type of analyzers that's called a "CGA", (continuous gas analyzer). The gas chromatograph is to analyze all different components (hydrocarbons) of natural gas, the fuel for our gas turbine. The exhaust gases are measured by a CEMS (Continous Emission Monitoring System) because emission limits of CO, NOx and SO2 must not be violated. In addition it gives also an indication of the performance of the gas turbine. The heart of the CEMS is, besides sample preparation, a continuous gas analyzer (CGA). This is just one example, but in general you could say that CGA's are used for simple components like O2, CO, CO2,NOx . One analyzer usually can measure just one component. Gas chromatographs (GC's) are capable of measuring more complex gases, and an entire range of gases, all in just one unit. Nnedless to say is that GC's are generally more complex and expensive than CGA's. And use complete different technologies also. Best Regards, SonicRanger.
