get an PWM output from a PLC S7-1200 with CPU 1212C

lukas.wittevrongel Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I'm a student from belgium, mechanical ingeneering. I'm trying to get an PWM output from a PLC S7-1200 with CPU 1212C. When I enable the pulse generator Pulse_1 and I compile the programme I get following error: ,Enable this pulse generator: Pulse outputs cannot be used for integrated relay outputs.,1,0,3:10:37 PM But I definitely did enabled this generator and already followed your example but even then I get the same error. Can you help me with this? Kind regards Splitted from TIP for S7-1200 und PWM.

Gorp Posts: 89 Rating: (16)	It looks like you have a CPU with relay outputs...? If so, you can not use puls outputs.

lukas.wittevrongel Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Indeed CPU 1212C AC/DC/RLY, so we have relay outputs and no ability for puls output. What can we do to get PWM (ex. SIGNAL BOARD SB 1223, 2DI/2DQ 24V 200KHZ ). Would this solve my problem? kind regards

You can write PLC logic to toggle the relay outputs if the pulse widths are fairly long. It will dramatically reduce the life of the outputs, but for proof of concept, your manually created PWM logic which pulses the outputs relatively quickly.

Gorp Posts: 89 Rating: (16)	With the signal board you should be able to usePWM although my TIA V10.5 seems a bit buggy when trying to assign the puls outputs..... You can try yourself by adding the signal board in the device configuration and then compile.
