Geting data out using PROFINET CBA, calling CBA experts

Shutiao Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I am trying to communicate with a S7 "CPU 315F-2 PN/DP" using PROFINET CBA. My data is in the data block 70 : eg. "DB70.DBX001.0". (I can see those data using S7 Step program, which is using PROFINET IO). But I am write my own program using DCOM protocol to talk to its PROFINET CBA. I have managed initial communication with the PLC, such as getting the Physical and Logical device infomation out, and can obtain CBA interface object such as ICBABrowse, ICBAAcco, ICBARTAuto etc. However, I am not able to poll my data out. For instance, when I calling the ICBABrowse.count on the Logical Device, which is mean to get non-system RTAuto items count, the PLC returns 0. Am I on the right track of doing this?? Isn't the "DB70" item surpose to be listed in the RTAuto item?? So I can browse it? I am totally confused now. Please help me, PROFINET CBA experts.. Best Regards

Shutiao Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thanks little holmes. I actually have read most of the document already. But my problem is that the PLC program is created by a third party, and it is using PROFINET IO. So my question now is : Can I poll variable data out using PROFINET CBA if the PLC is programmed by PROFINET IO??

wzrdstrm Posts: 16 Rating: (1)	Here is what I know...you need the iMAp add-on for step 7. You would create your DB as a profinet I/O. There are specific properties used to create that data. There are three different types you can create, I've only created singleton. One this is completed you would have created and object with the name you specified while setting up the DB. Here's the part that probably is missing. You need to bring the object(s) createdinto the FULL version of iMAP for it connections to others. Once your config in iMAP is done you download the projects to the PLC's. This also adds some other system data. I haven't checked to see what actually is downloaded. You can use iMAP to configure the whole thing I think, as I was testing all the functionality. Sorry I'm not sure what you plan with the DCOM, but the above should get you in the right direction.

Shutiao Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thanks wzrdstrm, it really works. You are absolutely right, it is missing the componentcreationstep by iMap add-on. Because PROFINET CBA is using DCOM as its underneath communication protocol. So I wrote my own PROFINET CBA wrapper, then I can use it in applications which are running in a embedded device, and communicate with Siemens PLC CBA directly without an OPC or anything in between. Once again, many thinks. Regards
