all my WinnCC graphics folders in the  graphics toolbox do not open. am I missing something. 

I am running

TIA V15 Update2  +  WinCC Advanced Version V15 Update 2

yes I did install as you have mentioned. I can see many graphics folders in the graphics toolbox, none of the folders open at all. The only thing a can do is right click and select open folder. I am then directed to a bin folder in my c: drive. this bin folder has 9 folders and approx. 2500 files of many different file extensions.

Probably not the correct way, but:

There is a zipped graphics folder on the install DVD here:
 WINCC COMMON V15 DVD 2 and 3\DVD 2 Hardware Support Packages, Open Source Software, Tools\Support\Graphics

Unzip the contents into a folder on your hard disk, then in the Toolbox\Graphics there is a button where you can create a link to this folder.

There is also a zipped graphics folder here:

C:\Program Files\Siemens\Automation\Portal V15\lib\Graphics

So could extract that to a folder/link also.

I have the same problem. My laptop has been upgraded to V16 from V15.1 by an external supplier,

I've migrated a project but when I went to modify a screen there were no graphics to see and the open folder option showed them as .ctx files.

After reading the above comments I have unzipped the graphics folder and they now have the .emf extension but I still cant get TIA to open them, I cant see the image until I double click on it and then it opens with paint!

Any help appreciated.

Is the window at the bottom expanded? It must be expanded to view the contents of the folders.
