Dear experts, I have a H-system in which my RIOs are few km away. I have attached 2 configuration here. I would like to know will both configuration 1 & 2 work? Sceondly, if both works, which one will be better? Or any advantages or disadvantages for both configuration? Thank you very much! regards, Diana.S AttachmentTopology2.pdf (82 Downloads) |

Hello Diana.S Configuration 1 is OK. Configuration 2 is NOT OK. Youdo create a FO ring structure here whichmeans you bridge the two Profibus Networks and as such must cause problems in my humble opinion. You need to bear in mind that the redundant DP Masters as well as each redundnat IM pair have the same Profibus address. The FO ring will now create a "short circuit" in the communcation path and will lead to nothing but duplciated, corrupted and conflicting telegrams. Having said that, it is a somewhat "nice" idea as it would havesaved you a few km's of FO cable, so "good on you" for daring to think outside the box. I hope this helps |

Dear Diana, Configuration 1 - This is perfect. Configuration2 - I think this configuration willalso work. Because Ring topology is also possible as per the given Manual. Refer section 3.3 in given manual. AttachmentOLM.pdf (71 Downloads) |
