Hard disk size compress in MMC013

Controls_Engineer Posts: 60 Rating: (1)	Hi All, Last year we have bought new MMC103 (6FC5210-0DA20-2AA1) from Siemens. In this 40GB(HITACHI) hard disk was used. Just for checking I have removed the hard drive from MMC and connected it with normal desktop by using IDE to USB convertor. Surprisingly the hard disk size shown as 9.36gb only. How is it possible?? How to compress the size of 40GB hard drive into lesser size? Regards, Venki

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hello... 10GB information is only used in MMC103 rest other space unallocated .... When you load your Ghost backups the information is allocated to respective drives.... Regards, Prakash

Controls_Engineer Posts: 60 Rating: (1)	Dear Mr.Prakash, Thanks for your reply. There is no unallocated space shown in original hard disk (40GB size) received with MMC103. But when I make backup hard disk (80GB) from ghost image, the system shows unallocated space. Pls refer attached picture. I am interested to know how to do this. Hello Venki,

My guess may be your Harddisk original size itself is 80GB...

I have checked up 40 and 80 GB ...more than >80GB Higher capacity of HDD doesn't work...mother board will not support...

Eric Sim Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	How to detect a new HDD. -Search program and files for “Disk management”. You will see unknown HDD with 149.50 GB. Not Initialized. -Right click “Disk 1” and choose initialize. Then you will see the disk status from unknown to Basic 149.50 GB online. -Create a New Simple Volume… “E” for 200 MB NTFS file. -Format this New Volume “E”.
