Hello minipeddy; The S5 PLCs had no equivalent to the S7 HWConfig editor. All modules started by being slot-addressable, but depending on the CPU you couldmodify these base addresses usingdipswitch selection (if you had the correct IM3xx module inserted in the rack). To make this even more complex, each family (S5-100U, S5-115U, s5-135U...) had different rules for addressing, and sometimes within the same family different processors wrote their own rules. As an example, the attached document shows the adddressing rules for modules on a S5-115U, CPU 945,including a IM 306 module. It is taken from the following manual: S5-115U Programmable Controller CPU 945-7UA1./-7UA2. You should search the forum for the manual for your specific S5 CPU, using the search box at the right of this page.
