Hardware Download Error using CiR

cesar.loayza Regular Member Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 5/17/2023 Posts: 25 Rating: (1)	Hi, One of our clients have a S7-400 CPU with Profibus remote racks ET-200s running their process plant. Our hardware configuration has CiR modules configured as per the manual and we have added a couple of I/O modules in the remote racks previously and the hardware update worked with no problems without stopping the CPU (plant continuously running). The problem that we are having now is that we are trying to add a new I/O module in a remote rack DP slave 2 (Profibus Leg 3) but this time we are getting an error and the hardware update fails everytime (attached error screen captures and report below). The error is pointing to DP slave 94 (Profibus Leg 1) which is a slave S7-200 CPU that is working and running. This S7-200 CPU is not the slave where the new module is to be added and it is not located in the same Profibus leg either. Any ideas what could be acusing the problem? Is there any chance that a Profibus communications signal issue with the leg where the S7-200 CPU is connected could be casuing this issue? Unfortunately, that was exactly my frist thought but then I checked and input address 94 is not used in our project (input mapping or diagnostics) so that is why it seems to be the actual DP slave address instead. Just to give you more information, I tested and try several times to replicate the problem using PLCSim in our workshop and we do not have any problems doing a download in run mode. It is definitely only an issue on site where all of the nodes are actually connected. Any more ideas?

rg-link Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hi, In order to SIMATIC help, "Modification of the following DP slave parameters: Bus address, assignment to the DP master, parameter assignment data, diagnostics address" is not allowed in RUN mode. You've got the error message saying "Type of error: User data for slave different". I guess modification of the user data also isn't permitted. Try to compare the online and offline system data object (with the option "Execute code comparison"): you'll see this is true or not. What's the result of applying "Station --> Check CiR capability" in HW Config?

It was odd since we have done hardware downloads in run mode before and as far as we knew nothing has changed on site. Anyways, we managed to organise a short shutdown to do a normal hardware download in stop mode and then all the consistency checks were fine including CiR. Afterwards, we tried a couple of downloads in run mode and it was all fine. I am not sure what happened but it is all good now. Thanks for your help anyways.
