Generally, you need just set it in the CPU device configuration, and read directlly in your ladder as absolut address (e.g. ID1000:P).

Thome_sc Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Ialready set hsc_1 on but I don't know how to coun't it, the program that I have to do is to calculate the velocity of the encoder put on I0.0 but how can i have the count of the encoder. if i know the number of the count i can calculate the velocity but I yet have to know how to count. ID1000 is a Dword and I need a bool, if its not too trouble for you can you make an example on the step7 just to know the actually count of the encoder.

Let's make a tag named "EncoderCounter" mapped to ID1000. MotorRPM = EncoderCounter per unit time / EncoderCountsPerRevolution If your encoder counts are 1024, and you run a timed OB every 10 ms (or whatever you want), the calculation would look something like this... First_ScanOB: SavedEncoderCounts = 0 --PeriodicOB-10ms-- Counts = EncoderCounter - SavedEncoderCounts SavedEncoderCounts = EncoderCounter MotorRevPerSec = (Counts / 1024.0) / 0.01 => (Counts * 100.0) / 1024.0 => Counts / 1.024 MotorRPM = MotorRevPerSec * 60.0 ---End OB--- I have not tested this but it should get you started. If your periodic OB runs differently, scale the 0.01 to match.

Thome_sc Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	sorry butthe problem isn't how to calculate but how can I get the count of the encoder I don't know the only thing I know is; I put the out A of the encoder in I0.0 , set in device options enable HSC_1 , and ID1000==dword. after that how do I proceed.

I wil tell what i done until now S7-1200 1214c dc/dc/dc. 1-enable HSC_1. 2-i didn't use the hardware block. 3-I create the hsc_counter and a data block whith two option the retain count_hsc(dword) + conv_count(int) 4-on thecrt_hsc_1 i put> HSC(hsc_1) , DIR(M0.0) , CV(M0.1) , RV(M0.2) , NEW_DIR(-1) , NEW_CV (0) , NEW_RV(200) , NEW_PERIOD(0) . 4-I0.1--M0.0 , I0.2---M0.1 , I0.3---M0.2. 5- CREATE MOVE ID1000--MOVE---count_hsc. 6-CREATE CONVERT count_hsc(DWORD)---CONVERT----conv_count(INT). 7-COMPILE ok 8-DOWNLOAD OK. 9-MONITORING ONLINE PLC. 10- NOTHING HAPPENS TO count_hsc and conv_count when I turn the encoder. HELP.

Gorp Posts: 89 Rating: (16)	In the example that William B. gave in the post above the CTRL_HSC is in OB1 and there is noinput condition to the EN. This way theCTRL_HSC will be executed every scan. If M0.0 is TRUE then it will keep on moving 0 to the count value. Ialways put the CTRL_HSC in an FC and only call itwhen I want to change something. Depending on what I want to change, I set the input variables of this FC call.

Thome_sc Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	in my case M0.0 i only set when i need to, but in this case is to only learn how to use the encoder becouse in this week I need to make the progran but the problem is how to get the count of the encoder. so theres no tutorial explainhow to. my problem is easy I read the encoder calcule the velocity and send by analog output to the inversor. but the problem is how can I calculate the velocity if I don't know how to read the encoder.
