Hi Raheel, Our Guys in Genoa took days of classes only on computer hardware for Simatic IT. So they say the configuration is very detailed, and there are many elements to be looked at, like the boards' specifications, besides the RAM, HD and all... Siemens created the partnership program to ensure all customers would get the best suppliers possible, who would provide them with a complete solution. That's why I suggested that you look for them, and request consulting services on your case. To apply for the partnership we contacted our local salesperson, who is responsible for Simatic IT in the whole country. Since we're already Siemens Solutions Partner in many fields, he had some meetings with us, to evaluate our potencial. Then he had the guy who's responsible for the products in all of Latin America come from Genoa here, to know us. That's when they approved us. Then we sent 4 guys to Genoa for almost 4 months for trainings on the products. It takes an initial investment, and further investment every year to become a partner. This investment is both in money and effort, for the trainings. Also... here in Brazil Siemens decided to have a specific amount of partners, each covering a particular field, so they don't compete directly. There is a company for the cement industry, one for the chemical one, and we're the metals and mining responsible. This means all work in your field will be handed to you, since you have more knowledge on it. But if a customer needs something in a field other than these Siemens will choose the partner with the most experience on it to handle the case. Here's some more info on the Simatic IT Partner Program... Dec, Thank you, but I didn't mean for it to sound like I'm advertising the product... The thing is I've come to really like Siemens products, after developing with several different manufacturers. So I trust their solutions... But this has indeed helped the commercial department on different occasions. Lately they've wanted me to go along on site surveys and the first meetings with possible customers... guess now I might know why... Best regards, Danielle |
