HMI Alarms in TIA 12

ArielSan Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, iam programing a confort panel in TIA V12. The PLC program is in STEP 7 V5.5. Im using faceplate with HMI UDT in tia portal. The problem im having is when i want to create the hmi alarm, i cant use the variables created in the hmi udt to generate the alarm. The variable i want to use is inside the structure in the hmi udt defined as word. Have anyone deal with problem?. The only solution i can do is to create a new tag "outside" the HMI UDT to use in the HMI alarms. Thanks. PD: apologize for my English

I wanted to know whether there was some other or better way without having to duplicate variables. Is not really a problem is a little frustrating having to duplicate variables wend the tags i want to use for alarm the are already in the udt.

K!ke Posts: 1299 Rating: (136)	Hello, What I meant was this: you define a udt as a property in the interface of faceplate. when inserting the facaplate to screen you can dynamise this property in tab "interface". there you give the property udt an "external" (outside the faceplate) tag with the datatype udt. this tag you can use for alarms. my question was if you defined this tag anyway, so you don't have to make double tags. Ivan_Verdonck Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi there, I have the same question... I made an UDT to use in a faceplate, these udt corresponds to a PLC UDT. This UDT contains "ALL" te information of the motor/valve. Including the "alarm bit". I can connect the UDT to the faceplate and use all the tags of the udt to visualize and control the motor/valve. I want to use the same UDT, to generate the "discrete alarms". The Int that i use for this is also defined in the UDT. When i browse the "Int" containing the alarm bit in the UDT structure, i can select it (and the "trigger adres" seems ok) But the "trigger tag" stays red and "the specified value is invalid" appears. Now i need to make an "udt tag" for use in the faceplates AND an second "int-tag" to generate the alarms. If i could do that with only one "udt tag" and use it for the alarm, this would save me time and possible errors. I use TIA v12 SP1 update 3. Attachment Alarm_tag.jpg (497 Downloads)

L. MacNeil Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi Folks, First post here, new to the siemens world as of 10 days ago, joined today in hopes of getting an answer to this very question. I did a full review of the documentation with TIA V12 on this and couldn't find any mention of alarms NOT being allowed on a UDT. The application we are working on also requires data logging and it too appears not to be allowed on UDT elements - has anyone else run into this probem in addition to the one with alarms? If it can't be done, we will end up duplicating about a1/4 the data in the UDT with additional tags just to get the alarms & logging to function. A bit of a pain, but will do what has to be done unless someone can suggest an alternative. Cheers, L. MacNeil
