Hello, can someone please help me?

Function "SetBitWhileKeyPressed" for HMI buttons is not working correctly. It happens sporadically that the tag remains set when the button is released. Setting tag to "true" by pressing button works OK everytime. But, when the button is releasing, tag stays in "true" state. This is happening once per about 40 pressing of button.

The "SetBitWhileKeyPressed" function I need for "jogging" drives only. For all other tags I use "setbitintag" button function and tags are reseting in PLC only. It's always working correctly.

I write into tags in HMI buttons ONLY. PLC is these tags reading only.

Panel = KTP700 Basic (version 13.0.1.0)

PLC = S7-1215C (version V3.0)

active-while-pressed type functions, makes me uncomfortable. There is much room for the active true state to get 'stuck'.

At the very least -> Ensure functions of this type is forced to false when the page is closed. That would reduce the risk.

In our projects, we have a combination of HMI buttons and physical press buttons to give a 'jog' function. The HMI button toggles the state between active or inactive. Holding the physical button down will execute the state that is activated on the HMI.

Smaller machines re-uses the START button. The START button executes the activated functions, when the HMI is on the appropriate page. The STOP button cancels all active states.

Thanks for answer. I tried it, but it did not help. It did not even help to change the way the tags were refreshed - cyclically, on demand, and so on.

So the conclusion is, never to use the HMI buttons for the "jogging" function? Unreliability is a common feature of Siemens OP?

Does anyone have an idea how to solve it?

I try to use hardware buttons, which are integrated on the OP. Maybe it helps. If not, I have to add HW buttons connected electrically to PLC + HMI jogging permission by HMI buttons. As previously mentioned.

for your variables please look also for the aquisition time of your variable.
Set the aquisition time to 100 ms and you should have a faster reaction.

You can also use the "Softkey" function at your template (screen management).
There can you assign the press and relase-function directly to the button as a event and not in the picture (remove the hook at the properties of the button at "use global assignment").

It looks to me that you use a tag where HMI writes to as an IN/OUT variable of FB. You should not do that because HMI runs asynchronous from PLC in S7-1200/1500 (unlike in S7-300).
