 The HMI also has a tag table. Drag the PLC tag and drop it into the HMI tag table. When working with the button event you can look up the tag that is on the HMI tag table.  But you can also look for the PLC tag from there if the PLC tag was made visible.

Sorry, I was trying to explain that the SetBit function requires a tag, you can't just type Q0.6. If you drag and drop the PLC tag to the SetBit function it will create the HMI tag for you. #dP is pointing out that you can select the same tag by clicking on the ... requestor on the side of the input field.

In your PLC program, you should have used a memory bit to switch ON and OFF the output coil right.? You need to use the same Memory bit in the HMI by configuring from Events Set bit and Reset bit function. 

To call the memory bit, you need to goto set bit function and can navigate to PLC tags and select the right memory bit which you had used for switching the coil Output Q.

 I thought that is the way it had to be done. But I wasn't sure if that is the only way. Is that the only way or can you use tags only ?That is why I started this thread.

Earlier posters in this thread are making it sound like you can just write directly to PLC outputs using HMI tags. Maybe there is a way to do it that way too. I tried because they suggested it but it did not work for me.

I think you are talkingt about Force Table where you can force the Output to ON and OFF diectly in that table. But I don't think that is the way when you try to use HMI. I don't think you can do the same way way using HMI button events. Only if you can realise showing the Force Table in HMI and directly force the output from there in HMI using Force Table. Also there is some kinda limits with the number of Outputs you can force(not sure about it). Always through the PLC logic is good I guess. 

Sorry. I made a totally wrong statement. It is indeed possible to set and reset and output directly from the HMI button, provided you are not using the output in any program lines. If its the case you can ON and OFF directly. But then there can't be any logic included for that output in your PLC program. It will be just like a normal switch but just using HMI screen for that purpose.
