HMI Media Redundancy Issue

Mohamed_Abdelwahed Posts: 25 Rating: (3)	Hi Every one I am facing a problem in a system hoping someone can help me. As attached file Our system consist of two redundant CPU S7-412 H, 2 SCALANCE XC206-2 Switches (6GK5206-2BB00-2AC2) and one HMI TP 1500 Comfort, The system connect to DCS through 2 redundant fiber optic cable. The redundant of CPU work very good no problem happened. The redundant of HMI was working ok but after connect the DCS fiber optic cables to the switches the HMI become slow in show Feed back and receive order because I notice that the HMI become Change connection to PLC1 to PLC2 and reverse alone without any problem in connection almost every one minute, also the DCS System Engineer inform us that our system make conflict at DCS system. So now we removed one ethernet cable of two cables connected to HMI then no problem in HMI (slow in Feed back) and no conflict at DCS system but now the HMI connect to CPU1 only. I follow all instruction from Siemens support in this link for establish HMI redundancy https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/96837136/connecting-simatic-hmi-panels-with-a-simatic-s7-400h-(wincc-v16-and-step-7-v5-6)?dti=0&lc=en-ZM and As I mentioned before it was working very good but all problem happen after connect DCS. Ethernet cable was connect to HMI as per attached photo X1 (P1 & P2). Some one suggest to activate Media redundancy for HMI Port but it show me that I have to use it as client an If I select Clint it show me error ( a manger must be configured ). SahilU Experienced Member Joined: 5/11/2017 Last visit: 2/4/2024 Posts: 59 Rating: (3)	From your attached System architecture Comfort Panels are compatible with MRP rings but as a client only When you connect SW1 - HMI - SW2 - DCS - SW1(Return) it creates a MRP Ring so as you mentioned that when you connect your HMI to SW1 or SW2 (Either one of them) the system works fine The same will happen if you connect you DCS to SW1 or SW2 (only one). in this case you can connect your HMI to both the switches as you have not closed your network loop through DCS If your client's DCS have two different network (not switch ports) ports then you can use that to continue with the current network design
