HMI Simulation through PLC CP

ajrcruncha Experienced Member Joined: 8/12/2013 Last visit: 4/12/2023 Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi all, TIA 15.0 PLC 1515, CP 1543-1, KTP700F Mobile HMI connected to PLC via Profinet. I am attempting to simulate the HMI by connecting to a real PLC through a CP Card without success. Firstly is this even possible? I have tried lots of different PG Interface configurations with no luck but if i connect my laptop directly to the profinet network, the simulation works fine. I am starting to thinking that i cannot simulate a HMI through the CP cards Ethernet connection, or possibly my network is blocking the traffic?

For Simulation you should try to change it to Ethernet connection to CP. Regards, Frink

If i connect the HMI directly to the CP in network view and configure the HMI connection as per the provided screenshots, I then need to change the IP address of the HMI to be within the same range as the CP and not the profinet network? Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 4/17/2025 Posts: 15311 Rating: (1893)	Hello Perhaps it would help us to understand your configuration better if you post a Screenshot of the Network view with activated Adresses, then we can see which settings you use or want to use Do I understand correctly that your real HMI and PLC work with interna interface and now you want to simulate the HMI from the Engineering and the Engineering PC is connected to the CP which is in another subnet??? In this case its not possible. you can create a routing connection but then you always have to change your connection if you want to simulate.... Bye Murof

With my laptop connected to the CP and the HMI on the internal profinet network, i am still able to download to the HMI. I assumed if i could download, then i should be able to simulate. But the difference is, that the Download is made for your situation, so that the Engineering PC (ES) ist in another subnet or protocol and the PLC can route. But In case of the S7 Routing connection for communication you would have to set the HMI Connection into a routing connection (to node CP trough PLC as Gatway). This is also possible but in your case the "live" System works different. SO you can change your Project, then the simulation will work also in this case but you would have to change it every time you want to simulate... Bye Murof
