Eng.Abdo Posts: 99 Rating: (0)	Dear All We are having SICAM PAS SU connected to 2 NTP TimeServer LAN Board Model 7271, in one GPS Devise "GPS - System 6844", our objective is to use the two LAN Card as Redundant with one IP Address, so if the first lan card fail, the second one will take over. can you please advise if this possible thanks

It is possible to have redundant Ethernet port and i case of port failure or Ethernet switch failure it will automatically change to other port. Both ports can have same IP address but for this you need special Ethernet adapter (card). Which one do you have? Best Regards Ensar

Best Regards Ensar Dear Ensar, yes, exactly. note that i have 1 net work with 1 SICAM PAS SU, my station unit is conected to two GPS System "GPS 6844", each GPS 6844 has two lan Card 7271. in my full server i configure GPS 1 with one IP Address for LAN 1 and GPS2 with one IP Address for LAN 2, my question is, is it possible to configure new IP Address for LAN 2 for the both GPS 1 & 2 if yes can you explain me please thanks

Sicam PAS - actually the NTP driver which comes with Sicam - can handle two or more NTP Servers. If one fails, it will synchronize automatically with the second one. If you really want redundancy, you should have 2 different GPS systems. Mike

If one fails, it will synchronize automatically with the second one... Mike I think for what you want to do, chapter 6 of the SICAM PAS Installation Manual might be useful. (SICAM PAS V6) Along with the SICAM PAS installation, there is the ntp.conf system file in which you can state to synchronize with 2 time servers (with different IP though). This file should be modified according to your configuration. Hopefully this helps. The SICAM PAS Installation Manual is available when you install SICAM PAS. Sergio G

But your drawing is still showing 2 network cards for each GPS. Did you check this with Hopf? Don't configure simply two IP Addresses and see what happens. Check if with if you may configure 2 different IP Addresses and ask if they may be on the same subnet. Otherwise you have two configure a second IP address and a second subnet on Sicam PAS too. Mike
