This topic is extremely important for me as I am using a library of FB's and consequently DB instances for motors, valves,.. I absolutely don't see any good future with Unified where everywhere Siemens is writing how the UDT approach just super great and how it makes less work in relation to Faceplates. Can you explain how I can connect my DB's for each valve, motor,... with a faceplate without useless workarounds and using UDT's... And now even the "change object references" is gone - this is back to 1998 ... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

I have never used unified but it looks like it has multiplexing. |

This multiplexing only works if data is in an array which it is not since he wants connect an IDB to a faceplate. I don't see any good way to link it without fundemental change in how the program is set up in the PLC, either by using UDTs or by having one FB with the instances of each arrayed. |
