How can I check whether the devices are connected to a parameter or variable or not?

Hi all, I have a plc which comunicate parameter whit another plc and have a v90 connected.

I would like if exist a way to check if the devices are connected or not with a parameter or variable. If devices are connected the first plc do a function otherwise another function
