Sorry rusli_rusli, simply"make a cable dsub-15 to rj45.. just take look at pin assigment" will not work. AUI(15 PIN CP1430 side) and UTP(RJ45 SCALANCE side) differ on the physical signal level (aka Layer 1 of the OSI/ISO model). What shermineneeds to getis an AUI to UTP converter of which there are plenty around (I suggest to google it to find a local supplier in your country). I hope this helps |

Dear fritz. First of all thanks for your reply. I have another question. Can I raise the speed of CP1430 with SCALANCE? Best Regards. |

Hello shermine The CP1430 operates at 10Mbps. Connecting it to a SCALANCE switch won't change that, it will allow you though to operate the SCALANCE backbone at faster speeds (e.g. 100Mbps or 1Gbps depending on the SCALANCE model). This could be benifcial if you have other Ethernet devices or traffic on the network, it won't change the speed of the CP1430 though. I hope this helps |

Hello shermine yes you can connect the CP1430 to a Scalance (via AUI to UTP converter) and then connect theScalance to an OSM (via CAT5 patch cable). Question is, why do you want to do this? You could just as well connect the CP1430directly to the OSM (via AUI to UTP converter) and I can't think of any benefit from having a SCALANCE switch in between. I alsofail to see how this would help you in "raising the speed of my network". Can I sugest youdrawa network topology sketch of what you currently have and explain what you are trying to achieve. Please provide as much detail as possible, I am unsure why do you think you need to raise the speed of your network (are you adding to the network, is the current network performance inadequate etc. etc.). |

Dear fritz Hi Thanks for your quick reply and sorry about my late. I have an ASGE2 in my network. I know that the ASGE is a phased out product. There is no 100MBit product any more available for this device. So Rated X told me that IfI want tospeed up my networkI have to replace the ASGE with new Switch like SCALANCE etc. I want to improve the performance of my network. Thisnetwork includes a plant bus and terminal bus. In the plant bus I have ASGE and interface card CP1430.In the terminal bus I have some equipments such as CP530 and CP1413. So in your opinion, Should I use SCALANCE for speed up my network or not? Best Regards. |
