how can I move block byte or word, Dword... in S7-1200 program?

Dear "bathoi", What made things confusing for me in the beginning was the fact that the logic blocks does not have a data size (WORD, INT, REAL, ..) when you first place it. The data size is set when you put in your first variable. With MATH functions you can at least select the data size when pressing on the ??? button that is inside the block. With MOVE instruction the data size is not indicated. BUT it is important that the IN and OUT data size are the same. TIP: When placing a MOVE instruction using shortcut keys: 1] SHIFT + F5 2] Type: [space] [m] [o] [v] [e] [enter] When placing block move (MOVE_BLK) instruction: 1] SHIFT + F5 2] Type: [m] [o] [v] [enter] okay? okay.

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1198)	Hi, Please accept my applogy. The MOVE_BLK does not work as I have understood from the documentation. The block move you are looking for does not seem to work correctly. The data that MOVE_BLK can handle the move only when the data is sorted in an array. So any block move from a MWxx is not possible. (VWxx does not exist in the S7-1200.) Only array variables created in an FB or DB can be copied with the block move instruction. [ouch] That does create issues for re-using S7-200 code inside S7-1200. It would be nice if an expert could tell us if there is an indirect addressing method to move a block of MWxx to another block of MWxx. All is not lost however. I suggest you utilize the array to store the values that came from [VW20..VW29 and [VW30..VW39] as it does enhance the structure of your code. Sorry I am not more help than that.

There is an alternate solution that came up by following the links (thanks to Ganes10). If the block data is of mixed datatypes, declare those in a DB under a structure (STRUCT). ---- Let us say we use DB100 named SETUP S1 is a STRUCT with the variables B1 as BOOL and V1 as INT. Now S2 is a STRUCT with the same variables. Then use the MOVE command.. MOVE S1, S2 [This is also allowed for whole ARRAY's] Individual variables can be used.. SETUP.S1.B1 or SETUP.S2.V1 and so on. ----
