How can I unlock the protected FB and PB s in Step 5 CPU: 928B

mith Posts: 2 Rating: (1)	dear, i am going to replace one s5 system to s7 system. when i read the program found few FB and PB s are protected where declaration is there but in network 1 only the following instruction is written. JU M001: BE then i tried to convert the back up in s7 but it was not converted. please let me know is there any option to unlock the block? if it is then how can I... bye

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	mith: Which blocks are you not able to convert to S7? Normally standard blocks (like communication functions etc.) are locked (protected). These blocks cannot be converted form S5 to S7. They have to be manually replaced by equivalent S7 blocks. Look at the following FAQ for further help. aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	If there are PB's protected that way then its not from Siemens but from the people who wrote the software for that PLC,contact them and if they are not in business anymore or don't want to help then try opening a PB by going to network 2 or by specifying an adress Block list : PB 2 Search key : 2 <-- netwerk 2 OR Search key : 20H <-- goto adress 20 in Hex greetings Eric

mith Posts: 2 Rating: (1)	Dear, Maximum no of FBs and PBs Iwas able to open with entering the network 2 directly. but few FBs and PBs are not opened. The blocks which are protected apart from the standard blocks are mainly tension calculation, diameter calculation and related to the process and written by the OEM(Rotomec), who supplied the machine. some howi am notgetting any support from them. Is it possible to open the blocks written and locked by the OEM? regards mith

MoA3121 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I know this might be a little bit late for you but you should open ***.s5d project using winhex or similar softwares, and modify the machin codes. after jump code (2D 02) there must be a block end BE (65 00), just replace (65 00) with (00 00) this will hopefully work Good luck!!! Simatic.SV Advanced Member Joined: 11/5/2005 Last visit: 10/8/2024 Posts: 20 Rating: (1)	I used the XVI32 software tool to make the hexadecimal edition of an S5D file, and everything worked OK. I just executed a "Search - Replace" function, searching for 2D 02 65 00 and replacing with 2D 02 00 00. I tried to use WinHex, but it requires to buy a license if the S5D file is above 200KB. XVI32 is freeware with no limitations. It can be downloaded at http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm#download Hope this helps others to unlock S5 blocks, which unfortunately have no support from the OEMs.
