How do I connect and upload (relay -> pc) the configuration (without taking the device out of operation)?

I have received the message informing me to INITIALIZE the device. My siprotec relay (7SJ64) is in operation and has been for years. I now need to connect, but if I understand this INITIALIZE procedure, I will be overwriting the data on the relay with the data on the PC? I do not believe I have a copy of the "exact" file that was downloaded to the relay in the past. How do I now connect and "upload (relay -> pc)" the configuration (without taking the device out of operation)? (This is a 24x7 operation and I cannot "stop" the process). Thanks in advance. Back to reading in hopes I find the answer quickly. Genglish Splitted from Digsi interface port.

Digsi will check if the configuration is the same and if not, it will always download it from the device. At this point, if you click on save in Digsi, you will update your project with the current configuration. If you don't save, your project will still bethe original. Nothing happens to Siprotec. If you don't have a project, then you have a problem. You can do a plug&play, where Digsi downloads the configuration of the device. With this file you can change some settings like protection settings and IO, but not create information or activate/deactivate protection and functions. You also cannot change the IEC61850 settings. "Initialize" it used only when you want to completely download a setting to a new or different device and only works by the frontal port. This erases all data in Siprotec and resets the device. Mike
