Hi samkcr, The question is very generic. There is lot of information on time synchronization available on this site. To help you on this the following information will be helpful
Have a look at this manual for PCS7 ontime synchronization. Even though you are using PLC-WinCC, the fundamentals remain same and you can use this to "plan" and get started. Hope it helps.

Hi that FAQ is not a syncronisation, it is a time set.The times in PC and S7 can have differnces up to 500ms. The two linked FAQsare real time syncronisations. regards cumulus |

I will suggest that you keep your OS server as Time master. It is standard recommendation as well. I believe there is at least one confusing blunder in the above mentioned manual which complicates things.HenceI have extracted and attached the relevant pages from the original manual. (Ignore the page numbers at bottom)
Certain alarm messages may not be available in your case as you are doing a wincc-step 7 configuration and not PCS7. Point to remember:
