Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hi desmul24, do you want to communicate with a running CPU or do you want to configure this CPU (uploading an S7 to it)? For the first case you can find a FAQ describing the configuration of an DP/RS 232C to convert to serial here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/14690552 For the second case, to program the CPU you will need a converter for your PC like the CP 5512 (PCMCIA to MPI/PROFIBUS) to get the special MPI (RS485, not RS232 serial) connection. Your CPU only can communicate via MPI or profibus, both RS485 but with a special protocol. You need a converter RS 232--> MPI or profibus. Siemens have a few of them and there are some third party converters that should work (sorry Siemens) But please tell us first what you you want to do with your RS 232 port, because if it's for communication with i.e. a scada system, RS232 is a little out off date. In that case there are better ways to communicate. Regards, Marcjan
