Following your discussion, I would like to ask how many connections with S7-1200 can handle a S7-1500¿? How many connection resources are needed to stablish a link between them¿?

I working on a project in which a single S7-1500 PLC must control at least 30 S7-1200 remote units.

when you do it with I-Device-solution, you don´t need connection resources. 

The S7-1200 would be a device of the S7-1500 over Profinet. And a S7-1500 can handle up to 256 Profinet-devices over the internal interface.

Hi,

you can check the number of connections of you plc in the technical data.

I.E. the CPU 1513-1PN has a maximum number of connections of 128 - over the integrated interface 88.

1511 and 1513 - up to 128 connections

1515 ... - up to 256 connections.

Good to know when using for example distributed  IOs over profinet :)
