How many FM354 can be used in one S7300 rack ?

(1) How many FM354 can be used in one S7300 rack ? other questions are splitted to suppose we use 5 FM354 in one rack...is it possible to run each axis at different feed rates in linear interpolation at the same time. is it possible to write into R-parameters of individual FM354 using PLC program and from DB?. is it possible to use bigger OPs like MP277 10" as graphical interface between user and FM354. pls calrify at the earliest. regards, jeetu

FM modules are 8). I think this is implemented also in hardware confuguration in Step7. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

It is the current consumption from the 5 V backplane. FM354 Manual The maximum number of modules is limited by the total power that all modules to the left of the CPU or IM, as the case may be, consume from the 5 V backplane bus. The CPU 314, for example, can supply a maximum of 1.2 A. The FM 354 requires 100 mA of this amount. Please check page 28 of this manual: FM 354 Servo Drive Positioning Module Hope this helps.

Limited use of modules in the expansion unit (e.g. no CPs or FMs) IM 360/IM 361: For design of central controller and max. 3 expansion units. No limitation in selection of modules in the expansion unit Please see the attached picture. I have created more than one extension racks using IM360 & IM361 and also a distrubuted rack using IM153 And as you will se I can insert FM354 for all these racks without problem. I want to highlight again the current consumption from 5V of the back plane is a very important issue. During compiling, HW configuration may give you zero errors although you violate the current limit.You have to calculate it yourself. Hope this helps. Attachment 354.JPG (161 Downloads)

When developing configuration in HW config, and compile it, the compiler do not check for current limits of the back plane. You have to check it your self.
