How many S7 connections and UDP could a 1511 CPU handle?

Alex_VR Regular Member Joined: 5/6/2018 Last visit: 9/27/2023 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi experts, I have a project where I want to get dat from 14 S7 controllers via S7 connection, 13 EthernetIP controllers, and 2 Modbus TCP controllers. That would sum 14 S7 connections and 15 UDP connections. Could one single S7-1511 CPU handle it?

Hi,

as mentioned. Technical data.

Number of connections
● Number of connections, max.	128; via integrated interfaces of the CPU and connected CPs / CMs
● Number of connections reserved for ES/HMI/web	10
● Number of connections via integrated interfaces	88
● Number of S7 routing paths	16

Max possible connections via integrated interfaces (without CM/CP) = 88
Reserved for other Communication = 10

-> 78 connections can be used dynamically

These are shared ressources, it doesn't matter if Modbus/EthernetIP (all based on OUC) or S7-communication.

Which is the exact part number of the CPU you want to use? The CPU that I'll use is the 6ES7511-1AL03-0AB0 SIMATIC S7-1500, CPU 1511-1 PN. I saw that for S7 routing there 16 resources available. But do S7 routing and S7 connections use the same resources?
