How S7-300 Soft. Redundant get data from Slaves via IE/PB Link PN IO???

md80 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	We have a set of Software Redundant S7-315 PN/DP which needs to read fewdatafrom single bus slaves (load cells, loop controller etc). Is this possible to haveboth cpu read continuously data from the slave via IE/PB Link(6GK1411-5AB00)? How??? Please see the hardware config attached,compiled withput error. Think of doing so cos Y-Link cannot be used to turn the redundant Profibusbus to single bus... We have no hardware to test out so far. Thanks in advance. Attachment hardware confg.JPG (182 Downloads)

How??? I don't know about such possibility but the point is how would both CPUs manage writing outputs to slaves? To the best of my knowledge Profinet I/Os do not support redundancy (2 Masters(Controllers) at the same time). md80 Think of doing so cos Y-Link cannot be used to turn the redundant Profibusbus to single bus... Y-Linkis made todo it but only with S7-400H systems. I cansee that you have changed the configuration and added new Ethernet CPs to construct redundant link which means extra cost. Now Siemens has 412-3H which is much cheaper than414-H & 417H. Best regards. H-H

At the IE level, there is still Master-Slave? or seen as access by multiple PLCs to single ethernet device? Please assure me if IE/PB Link PB IO itself is a Masterfor supporting DP Slaves already? btw, what type of SFBs used for received/read data from the slaves via this IE/PB Link? any samples? It's an existing system. so, I would not expect seamlessswitch over of data read for the redundant (software) PLC in this case. best regards, md

First of all PROFINET IO or PROFINET CBA are not supported by redundancy with S7 at all. Neither with S7-400 H nor with Software redundancy.... at least not as far as I see it in the manuals of the Software redundancy. For the IE/PB Link you have on the Ethernet side always PROFINET IO Device or PROFINET CBA functions and on the PROFIBUS side always DP Master functions. The communication between your S7-300 and the IE/PB Link is not TCP/IP or something like it, it is PROFINET IO or PROFINET CBA (depending on the IE/PB Link you use). So you will still have to problem that both of the CPs try to establish the PN/IO or PN/CBA communication to the IE/PB Link at any time. As you mentioned that the plant you talk about runs already and youdo not expect an seamless switch over in the redundancyI wonder why you use a redundancy at all? Anyway, I think you have two chances, one would be to disable the Ethernet interface of the PLC you do not use, for example by switching of the Switch the CP is connected to (so you need two Switches at least... I even think three), or you unplug the failing PLC manually andconnect to the reserve PLC by hand. As said PROFINET is not released for H or redundantsystems at all... this isjust a mental game.
