How should you connect unused channels of analog input blocks?

(link) I don't quite understand this part: Short-circuit high-ohm inputs ( > 100kohms) or parameterize the current measurement in the range from 0 - 20/ + -20mA. Does this mean that I should short-circuit my unused current input (4-20mA, a spare input) ?

Bofely Posts: 123 Rating: (5)	I'm using the module 6ES7331-1KF02-0AB0 . The module data write this about unused channels: Set the "disabled" value at the "measurement type" parameter for unused channels. This setting reduces module cycle times. Interconnect the M- terminals of unused channels. So it seems that I only need to short the M- terminals of unused channels. I do want to set the unused channels to current input 4-20mA (may be used as spare, don't need to parameterize module later), I can leave the input unconnected (floating) then?

This is the basic rule there. It must interconnect M terminals and unused channels to be disable in hardware configuration in order to reduses module cycle time. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
